TV Advert Production Diary

Pre-production:
During the pre-production process to this assignment we started by completing mind maps and talent releases. This was then followed by a change of idea which then meant on completely re-starting this process. Our new idea was to advertise Colmans Mustard, which consisted of two secretary's and a 'mustard man'. Our idea was to have a man in an office based room looking at a boring sandwich, which is when the 'mustard man' pops from behind the desk and fills the boring sandwich with mustard. Then the mustard man would simply mutter 'mustard' repeatedly for much of the advert while the man would look at him in disgust and eventually take a bite from the sandwich. The man would then go crazy eyed from how delightful his sandwich was, and untucks his tie and shirt and heads over to the second secretary and whisks her away. My group re-started the pre-production process on the 19/12/13 which gave us only 2 lessons to complete all mind maps, location recces and releases, budget sheet, shot list, risk assessment, talent releases, prop list and a production schedule. Following our previous Depict! project, I feel as though we all divided the word fairly so that we all made an equal contribution to completing the pre-production paperwork even more so this project.

Production:
7/1/14 - Today we spend the double lesson preparing props ready for next lesson. We did this by buying props from the high street such as a shirt and tie.
8/1/14 - Today we managed to film our entire advert in the double lesson which we had.
14/1/14 - In one of the lessons we used some of the time to re-record a scene.
15/1/14 - We again had to re-take a more suitable shot to fit into our advert.
17/1/14 - Today on our final day of editing we spend 10 - 15 minutes of the lesson to re-shoot close ups.
Compared to our last project, we completed all major filming in one day even though we had 4 days to film. We also had to go back and re-shoot a few times to create better shots, which me and my group did not have to do for Depict.

Post-Production:
9/1/14 - In the double lesson we imported all of our footage onto the mac and adobe premiere pro. We then started ordering the footage and decided which shots we were going to use and we cut them down.
14/1/14 - In these lessons we recorded a voice over and learnt how to properly store our footage onto the mac.
15/1/14 - We used after effects to add an effect to our end shot.
16/1/14 - Today we completed our title/slogan and learnt how to use key frames.
17/1/14 - We imported our last pieces of footage into our advert which we re-shot.

  1. Good succinct summary. Change the nanes of filming and editing to production and post production.
